The insured is required to immediately report the accident to the insurer and provide the following brief information :
  • Name of the insured and/or policy number
  • License plate number, make and color of the vehicle
  • Driver’s name and phone number
  • Brief description of the accident and damage
  • Location of the accident and landmark and meeting point

After notifying, please proceed as advised by the insurer’s claim personnel.

If the other party’s Motor Insurer cannot be contacted at time of accident , please note down the name of the Insurance Company, Policy number and Expiry Date of the party at fault and take the following steps:

  • Have the party at fault issue a note of negligence admittance and acquire a copy of motor registration paper. If not available, note down the make, model, plate number of the vehicle, driver’s name, address and phone number.
  • Obtain the party at fault’s driver license or ID card with a written  note by her/him consenting to giving up as evidence of the fault.
  • Report the incident to the locale police station and obtain a copy of police report copy.
  • Immediately contact us for assistance with any difficulty.

If the Party at fault does not hold any Motor Insurance,  take the following steps

  • Have the party at fault issue a note of negligence admittance and obtain a copy of motor registration paper. If not available, note down the make, model , plate number of the vehicle, driver’s name, address and phone number.
  • Obtain the party at fault’s driver license or ID card with a written note by her/him consenting to giving up as evidence to the fault.
  • Report the incident to the locale police station and obtain a police report copy.
  • Immediately contact us for assistance with any difficulty.

If the other party is holding a type 1,2 or 3 etc. Motor Insurance with Accident Acknowledgement Form (Knock for Knock form – white form attached to the policy) available,

  • Exchange such forms  and take steps described on form.

If the other party either has no motor insurance or  the Accident Acknowledgement Form take the following steps :

  • Bring both vehicles to the insurance companies as soon as practicable. If possible, take picture of the accident.
  • If police is involved and alleges that the Insured is negligent, ask the other party to obtain a copy of police report and bring the damaged vehicle to us.
  • If no police is involved, Insured may issue a note of negligence admittance to the other party

  • Immediately take the injured person(s) to the nearest hospital or medical clinic for first aids . If the vehicle is insured under Compulsory Motor Insurance, present the policy copy to the hospital; most hospitals will provide the injured with primary treatment without your advance payment for the medical expenses. Where  advance payment is required, insurance company will reimburse you up to the underlying limit of liability as stated in the policy.
  • Immediately notify us.

  • Immediately report the incident to the Insurance Company.

Notable fines if you cause an accident

  • 400 up to 1,000 baht for accident results in Third Party’s property damage
  • Max. 1,000 baht fine, or max. 1 month imprisonment, or both for accident results in Third Party’s minor injury
  • Max. 6,000 baht fine, or max. 3 month imprisonment, or both for accident results in Third Party’s severe injury
  • Max. 20,000 baht fine, or max. 10 year imprisonment, or both for accident results in death of Third Party.

Additional fines in the event that the driver flees the scene of accident or fails to report the accident, :

  • Max. 5,000-20,000 baht fine
  • Max. 6 month imprisonment or both
  • The involved vehicle will be detained until the damages are settled.

Insurance coverage of the Motor Vehicle Accident Act from April 1, 2020.

The Insurance Company shall pay, to the victims of the accident, for the loss of life or bodily injuries or hygienes which shall be legally borne by the driver of the insured vehicle.

  • For bodily injuries or hygiene, the company shall pay for incurred medical expenses but not exceeding 80,000 baht per person.
  • For loss of organs or permanent disabilities or totally permanent disabilities, the company shall Indemnify, as specified under insurance conditions, the victim for the amount of 200,000 up to 500,000 baht per person.
  • For loss of life, the compensation amount is 500,000 baht per person.
  • For hospitalization, the company shall compensate for the amount of 200 baht per day with the limit of 20 days.

The Insurance Company shall initially pay, within 7 days from the date of receipt of a claim, without proof of negligence as follows:

  • For bodily injuries, the company shall pay for the incurred medical expenses but not exceeding 30,000 baht per person.
  • For loss of organs or permanent disabilities, 35,000 baht per person.
  • For loss of life,  35,000 baht per person for funeral expenses.

Total initial compensation in all cases combined shall not exceed 65,000 baht per person.

Remarks : If the victim is the driver of the insured vehicle, the maximum combined compensation shall not exceed 65,000 baht as above.

  • Name of Insured;
  • Type of Insurance and policy number;
  • Date and time of occurrence;
  • Place and cause of incident;

  • Initial Loss Estimate (if available);

  4. Inform the Insured of the assessment.
  5. Indemnify the Insured.

Once notified, the insurance company shall determine if a survey is required which may be conducted by:

  • insurance company’s own adjuster; or
  • appointed independent surveyor/adjuster.

IF no survey is required, the Insurance company may consider the claim based on the information and/or documents submitted by the Insured.

Claim Consideration

Insurance company shall consider if a claim is payable based on the cause of loss/damage, extent and in accordance with the insurance policy terms and conditions.

4.
Once fully considered

  • If the loss is payable, the insurance company will send the Liability Release Form for the Insured to sign in agreement.
  • If the loss is not payable, the insurance company will inform the insured in writing.
5.
Indemnification
Miscellaneous Insurance Claim

Upon receipt of the signed Liability Release Form, SCB will forward the Form to the Insurance Company for payment to be made to the Insured.

In case of death by accident

the initial documents required include copies of :
